It seems, with every year, that Christmas rolls around a lot sooner than imagined and that means a procession of end of year parties to attend.
One function rolls into another, rolls into another, until you can’t differentiate one from the next. All you’re left with is a raging hangover and no recollection of how you got it.
It’s even worse if you were placed in charge to organise the event and it ended up pear-shaped.
Fear not! Our events team has put together a few tired and true tips to assure your party runs perfectly and is a memorable one at that.
MAKE SURE YOU BOOK EARLY

It’s all well and good to dream of treating your colleagues to a night of champers and shenanigans at your favourite restaurant or function space.
However, if you wait till the last minute, you’ll have to settle for a stodgy night at wherever is available.
Repeat after us, book early. No later than a month is advance.
Not only are you avoiding disappointment but you’re also giving your colleagues time to organise themselves. There’s nothing worse than planning the perfect event and not having a single soul turn up.
SET A BUDGET

Before you even consider booking your favourite venue, it’s always important to consider your spending.
Your budget will certainly dictate choices such as whether you can afford the venue of preference, which set menu you’ll go for and even whether you will allow for an open bar or wine on the table or a pay-as-you-go system.
It will also help you avoid any nasty bill surprises at the end of the night.
If you’re all chipping in, it might be useful to have an office “safe” of sorts and a list of RSVPs who will be able to pop their share into the safe, while you tick off their names.
INCLUDE THINGS THAT MAKE YOUR EVENT UNIQUE

That is, consider adding things to your event that provides a point of difference.
It could be from anything as small and personal as place settings with your company logo on them, to booking the comedian you all enjoy, even creating a signature drink for the night.
If this seems too much of an effort, make sure you have at least considered the most important aspects of an event: convenience in location and transport, food, beverages, entertainment and time.
MOST IMPORTANTLY

Enjoy your work event! Remember, although planning might be a pain, the annual infamous work Christmas party only comes around once a year.
